The previous chapters outline the magnitude of avoidable premature death in the Americas. This final chapter brings the tools and strategies that have been approved to help governments in the Region save more lives.
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG3) is dedicated to ensuring health lives and promoting well-being for all. How well is the Americas Region moving towards this goal? In chapter 4 of Health in the Americas we look at this progress through three lenses: how well countries are reducing preventable deaths of 1) mothers during childbirth, 2) newborns in the first month of life, and 3) adults from preventable chronic, noncommunicable diseases.
